We just can’t get enough of amusing mobile phones and these days, people rely on their mobiles not just for work but also for entertainment. The LG GW520 should be an adequate device for both purposes and from the looks of it, LG is catering to mass market users with this device.

First, the fun part. The LG GW520 is a device optimised for social networking. Those who are fond of interacting online will be pleased to know that this phone comes with push technology for social networks. This means you get notifications right off should your contacts post any changes to their social pages such as their statuses, activities and so on. The phone also lets users edit their own pages and keep their contacts up to date on their current goings on.

To make your messaging an even more exciting experience, LG has fitted the phone with Live Square which allows you to customise avatars for your contacts. These avatars appear on the homescreen and you have quick access to friends and family with a push of a button.

The phone is equipped with a 3MP camera and a media player that can run MP3 and MPEG4 file formats. Push technology is also incorporated into e-mail on the LG GW520 and users can set up both personal and business accounts. The business e-mail is supported by Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.

The LG GW520 is 3G capable and is equipped with a WAP browser so you can make the most of your online experience. Unlike the LG GT505, this phone isn’t WiFi enabled although it offers Bluetooth connectivity.

The full slide-out QWERTY keyboard sports predictive text input for efficient typing. Other features include Java MIDP 2.0, a photo/video editor and voice memo.

The LG GW520 is a follow up to the LG KS360 and will be released sometime June 2009. No official word from LG as to the pricing scheme.
