2010 is coming and so is the impending release of this much anticipated Snapdragon powered Android phone.

The XPERIA X10 from Sony Ericsson enjoyed plenty of fun fare this 2009 when Sony first announced that the XPERIA X2 would be their last Windows Mobile device. And while the X2 has been delayed to January of next year, the new devices in the XPERIA series are still pushing through with their launch. This means we can expect to see the X2, the X10 and the Pureness early next year.

Anyway, people have been speculating for a while what the “X3” would be, most assumed that it, like the Motorola DROID, would be using the updated Android 2.0 OS. Much to the slight disappointment of many, the X10 (as the name turned out to be) would be using Android 1.6 Donut.

Still, it retained all the expected specs that people wanted see, particularly, the 1GHz Snapdragon processor. As much as people were excited about the news, this was overshadowed by reports of problems regarding SE’s Satio and the closure of some of their offices. Anyway, Sony has still been keeping the public interest in the X10 alive recently –in the form of video demos and such.

A recently leaked whitepaper regarding the X10 shows that T-Mobile might possibly be carrying the elusive mobile phone. This does not come as a surprise. While Sony did announce that their new Atlanta main offices were chosen due to the proximity to AT&T (SE’s largest customer), the company needs to generate a lot of sales that exclusivity to a single carrier would not give them.

What would be surprising is if T-Mobile gets the device for timed exclusivity. So far, Sony and T-Mobile have yet to confirm how the X10 will be handled once it launches.
