T-Mobile Vairy Touch II Deals Now Available

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Vairy Touch 2The own-branded budget handset from T-Mobile is available to buy in the UK.

T-Mobile Vairy Touch II deals cost just £39.99 on Pay As You Go. This is an ideal handset for those on a small budget who want to stay in touch with friends and family easily as well as to have access to music when on the move. The Vairy Touch II is also a good choice as a spare handset, perhaps to complement your iPhone 4 or HTC Desire on camping trips, for example. The battery life would certainly support this – the handset is capable of up to 300 hours on standby or up to 6 hours of talk-time.

The successor to the T-Mobile Vairy Touch, the Vairy Touch II is much more modern in design. The look of the mobile is smart and sophisticated with only the touchscreen and two touch-sensitive keys beneath. The screen measures 2.8 inches which is a decent size for viewing text and images onscreen. Like the original Vairy Touch, there is no support for 3G or Wi-Fi but there is Bluetooth onboard for transferring photos taken on the phone’s 2-megapixel snapper or music tracks.

As detailed in our T-Mobile Vairy Touch II reviews, this phone lets you send texts and multimedia messages. You can play games on this handset too.

T-Mobile sums up the phone with: Stay in touch in style with the T-Mobile Vairy Touch II. It’s cool and compact with a touchscreen, and you can surf the internet wherever you are. Take quick and easy photos with the 2 megapixel camera that’s also got black and white format, a timer and night mode. Play your tunes on the MP3 player or listen to your top radio stations on the FM radio. You can even make videos of those funny moments and send them via MMS or Bluetooth

Where to Get Your Apple iPhone 4

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Apple-iPhone-4-3In terms of context, this article may be better off labeled as “where not to get an Apple iPhone 4”, because simply, the handset has been sold out almost everywhere in the UK.

The newest Apple smart phone is so inherently famous and highly demanded that the device is nearly non-existent in stores. Not that Apple slowed down in terms of manufacturing, the Cupertino based company shipped out over a million and a half iPhone 4’s throughout the whole world for the launch. In fact, it has been confirmed that about 1.7 million units of the new iPhone were sold in the first three days of sales.

The stocks are indeed draining low –some are even saying that people are buying the handsets faster than Apple can have the devices ready for shipping. Considering the current figures, that is probably true.

Various network operators on the UK have confirmed that that iPhone is out of stock from their shelves. Here is a quick recap of the various networks.

Apple-iPhone-4GO2 UK has confirmed that everything they had has already been sold. While the priority has been to get pre-order customers their orders, O2 still managed to sell off plenty of handsets. Currently, the network operator is waiting for new stocks to arrive.

Vodafone UK has a similar tale to tell. With all of their pre-order devices already shipped out to customers, iPhone buyers made quick work of their stocks. 3 UK and T-Mobile share different stories. Their stocks of the Apple smart phone has not yet arrived and they are expecting the first batch of shipments to get in on a later date.

Electronics retailer Carphone Warehouse has confirmed that it has a very short amount of stocks left –which are now close to running out. This is the best option that buyers can take; however, ordering the iPhone 4 online is not longer an available option.

Orange and T-Mobile to Become: Everything Everywhere

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

OrangeYes, the merged company has opted for the name Everything Everywhere – which at least gives us an indication of its future plans within the mobile phone sector.

Everything Everywhere intends to launch about 100 new shops and grow its number of Wi-Fi hotspots in the UK.

However, when in contact with customers, the two brands Orange and T-Mobile will remain.

Tom Alexander, chief executive, said of the new name: “What I wanted was a company name that did not distract or confuse from two very strong brands. What I wanted was something that was additive. I love Everything Everywhere because it really does encapsulate the vision and the ambition for the company.”

He added: “We are going through this revolutionary step in the marketplace where people are getting iPhones, getting Google devices and we have Microsoft’s Phone 7 coming into the market soon. It’s not just about voice and text. It’s about everything else you can do on a mobile phone. People are even talking about apps down the pub. It’s not some bland name – Orange and T-Mobile Company Limited or something – it is encapsulating what the vision of the business is.”

The merger between these two mobile phone firms started in 2009 and regulatory approval was achieved earlier in 2010.t-mobileLOGO

And speaking of expansion plans for Everything Everywhere, Mr Alexander said: “We have looked at it long and hard and actually we are going to extend our number of shops. There are areas in the country where we will open new Everything Everywhere stores: they could be Orange branded; they could be T-Mobile branded or they could be a combination of both, especially in small rural towns. It is not just selling. We also want to provide service and help to customers on the high street not just over the phone. As people can do more and more with a mobile phone … we want to hold the hand of the customer and show them how they can get more out of their devices.”

HTC Desire and XPERIA X10 Now on T-Mobile

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

HTC DesireT-Mobile is now offering two high end Snapdragon Android smart phones: the HTC Desire and the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10. The devices will take a while before they start shipping out as the operator has labeled the devices to be shipped after several days which means that the phone stocks for the two devices are not physically available yet. But the few days of lead time will certainly help them edge out over competitors Vodafone and Orange who have also announced the devices.

The HTC Desire is going to be HTC’s first major Android device for this year. The prolific mobile phone manufacturer has been a strong presence in the Android scene since the start. The HTC Dream is the first Android smart phone to be released and the Nexus One was also made by the Taiwanese manufacturer.

The Desire continues the trend of the HTC Android device which uses a custom interface –this time, the HTC Sense and will come with features that match that of the Google Phone. This smart phone comes with a 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touch screen, a 5 mega pixel camera with 720p recording and of course, a Snapdragon processor clocked at 1GHz. The phone will be available by the 29th

The SE XPERIA X10 on the other hand is the joint venture’s very first Android device. The phone was announced last year and retains all of the original specs given out last November. The device runs on a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, has a 4 inch capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and has an 8 mega pixel snapper for taking images. The phone also features the Timescape and Mediascape tools from Sony Ericsson.

Introducing: T-Mobile Pulse Mini

Friday, February 26th, 2010

T-Mobile Pulse MiniT-Mobile has launched the Pulse Mini, thought to be the cheapest smartphone on the market currently.

As its name suggests, the handset is also small – a miniature version of the T-Mobile Pulse. The 3.5 inch touchscreen has been reduced to 2.8 inches and is no longer capacitive like the screen on the original. The screen has a 240×320 pixels resolution and support for 256k colours.

Pretty much standard nowadays on a smartphone, the Pulse Mini comes with social networking integration with live feeds from sites like Facebook and Twitter displayed on the home screen. Run on the Android 2.1 platform, there are plenty of Google apps to keep you content including Google Maps, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Search and Gmail.

There is an inbuilt 3.15-megapixel camera with LED flash and geo-tagging plus a video option. There is a second camera on the front of the Pulse Mini for making video calls.

The connection options span Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth and GPS, and there is support for SMS, MMS, IM and push email. Powered by Qualcomm MSM 7225 internal processor, the features should be quick.

To round things off, there is a media player onboard the Pulse Mini for listening to music and watching videos. The 3.5mm audio connector lets you listen in private via your earphones and the YouTube app means you can stream videos onto your handset.

All in all, the Pulse Mini seems pretty good – especially considering it is likely to be available on PAYG for a mere £99. If you like the look of the Pulse Mini, it is due for release in April.

T-Mobile’s Latest Offerings Delivers the Best of High End

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Samsung Galaxy Lite i5700If you have been itching for a serious phone upgrade, T-Mobile has all the devices ready for you. Vodafone is currently taking its sweet time with the Google Nexus One (and the only other option is shipping it from the US for an extra £30), and even the N-One has some serious competition from the T-Mobile UK phone lineup.

From the bottom of the list is the Samsung Galaxy i5700 Portal (also known as the Samsung Galaxy Spica/Lite outside of the UK). This Android smart phone and its predecessor, the i7500 Galaxy will be getting firmware upgrades to version 2.0 on February. On the same tier is the BlackBerry Storm 2. This RIM made phone has been keeping a low profile since its initial launch. Anyone looking for a good business phone should look this one up.

Next on the list is the newly renamed Sony Ericsson Vizaz (formerly known as the Kurara). This is the latest in the U-series from Sony after the Satio, Aino and Yari phones. The Vizaz comes with the Symbian OS and an 8 mega pixel camera capable of 720p HD video recording.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10Moving on to the real heavy hitters; two Snapdragon powered Android phones are gracing the offerings from T-Mobile. The much anticipated Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 and HTC’s surprise super phone, HTC Bravo –which will be coming out by the end of this month. Anyone looking for a great Nexus substitute should consider the Bravo with its 2.0 OS with an overlaid Sense UI. Not only does it share similar specs with the Google phone, it also brings an extra 720p HD recording capability.

The XPERIA X10 on the other hand delivers a larger screen, and the original Android OS user interface combined with the newly developed Mindscape/Timescape UI (coincidentally, the new UI was originally named Nexus). While it lacks the HD recording capability of the Bravo, its 8 mega pixel camera comes with excellent WVGA recording capability at 30 FPS.

T-Mobile Pulse Goes on Super Sale

Monday, December 7th, 2009

T-Mobile PulseHow do you know it is really Christmas? When there is an Android phone below the 100 Pound price mark!

T-Mobile is making many people merry during the holiday season by lowering the prices of all their pay-as-you-go mobile phones. This is probably a very limited holiday deal so interested buyers ought to go grab a phone of their liking as soon as possible.

With this offer, the T-Mobile Pulse stands as the cheapest Android device to date. The initial launch of the carrier-wide price-cut placed the Pulse at a few Pounds well over a hundred. The latest price cut set the price all the way down to 91.32 Pounds.

This 92 Pound device is the most price-efficient Android phone available in terms of specs per price. As we just said, it’s the cheapest Android ever.

So what do you get for the nice cheap deal? This pay-as-you-go Android phone boasts of a nice, big touch screen that is 3.5 inches wide. Pretty graphics with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, it also delivers some of the best resolutions for this price range. The device comes at a nice, easy to handle size of 116 x 63 x 14 mm, that’s small and slim –perfect to slip into a pocket or bag sleeve without getting in the way.

The 5 mega pixel camera is impressive for having high resolution (2592 x 1944 pixels –very printable even at 300 dpi) and autofocus capabilities; the only thing missing is LED flash.

This 3G phone supports UMTS and GSM bandwidths. For internet, you can choose between wireless LAN, HSDPA, EDGE and GPRS capabilities. The phone uses the Android 1.5 Cupcake making for a smooth and efficient mobile experience.

For a price below 100 Pounds and specs that make it a decent mid-tier smart phone, the T-Mobile Pulse definitely has its place on any Android shopper’s holiday shopping list.

T-Mobile Offers a Great Deal

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

t-mobileLOGOHere is a deal, you top up your SIM card by £10 each month, and you get unlimited text and internet access for that month. I say go for it. T-Mobile is letting subscribers sign up for this deal until January of next year and anyone would be foolish to pass this up. It’s a great deal. £10 is consumable and you get messaging and internet for free.

This deal would not work if it was just messaging alone or internet alone; you would also need a mobile phone with a web browser for this to be of any worth to you too. Oh, and do not forget, you have to be the kind of user that actually accesses the web in the first place. If you are not the kind of mobile user who accesses the web, just pass this up.

I do expect clogging on the network, with a lot of people getting disconnected all the time. Do not plan on making large downloads too since I bet the network latency will be really bad. Still, there is a lot of convenience in this deal that just stands out to me. T-Mobile announcing free internet and messaging certainly raised my eyebrows.

What does this mean for T-Mobile? Most would think that it is part of promoting the new Google Android mobile phones. Still, my argument is that people who want the android have money and rarely need to take part in deals like these. These, unlimited access offers are more to attract a new market than for retaining the existing group. Well, it is unlikely that T-Mobile is in any hot water, but they are up to something. Seems like a new T-Mobile phone is in the works somewhere; I’m expecting an announcement this Christmas or the month after.

T-Mobile Pulse: Simple at a Fraction of the Price

Monday, October 12th, 2009

t-pulseThe T-Mobile Pulse is a simple smartphone that will not offer the same experience as that of a Blackberry or an Iphone but it does offer a decent touchscreen phone at a fraction of the price.

The Design

The design is not awe-inspiring; it looks more like a typical touchscreen phone with its 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen and tactile trackball. Its size is also pretty basic, with a body measuring 116.0 x 63.0 x 13.5 mm, and weighs 135 grams. The aforementioned touchscreen offers a pixel display of 320 x 480, with a multi-touch method of input method. In short, it is simple looking, offering nothing new or inspiring but acceptable nonetheless.

Its Functionality

As for the amount of applications it has, it lacks a significant amount functionality that is offered by other smartphones. It does run on the Android v1.5 system that connects it to a multitude of Google services like Google Maps and Google Mail. It also comes with the Media Center (for managing of media files), and MyCommunity services (for managing contacts) that add a little appeal. Aside from that, the rest of the features are mediocre at best. It comes with a standard 3.5mm audio jack, a microSD slot, some email and instant messaging support, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity and a built-in 3.2 MP autofocus camera (pretty much a given in any mobile phone that considers itself as a smartphone).

The Verdict

As a whole, this offer from T-Mobile, as was initially mentioned, is simple and does not really offer anything new. What it does offer is a chance for a bargain because this touchscreen phone comes with a price tag that is lower than other mobile phones out there. It might not be the best smartphone out there but it does offer a good buy and for some, that is enough.

T Mobile To Sell Android Pulse

Monday, October 5th, 2009

t-pulse

T Mobile is now selling an Android powered mobile phone, the Pulse, for less than £200 on pay as you go, attracting a lot of attention from those who have always wanted a handset running under Android but lacked the funds.

The mobile phone, which was designed with these users who wanted a budget Android handset in mind, is now able to be acquired from the T Mobile online store.

The exact price for the Pulse mobile phone is £176.16, which may not sound like an incredibly good price for a “budget” handset, but when you consider that a Sim free version of the Hero costs upward of £400 you may just start to see the true value. If you open the phone up you will find it is in fact a Huawei U8220; and it has specs that really are very respectable when placed side by side with other Android powered mobile phones.

The device has a 3.5 inch touch screen display, boasting a 320 x 480 pixel resolution, as well as supporting both HSPA and Wi Fi connectivity. There is also inbuilt GPS navigation and a 3.2 mega pixel camera.

Although the Pulse is planned as a pay as you go mobile phone, you will have the option of signing up to a £5 per month internet package that is well worth it if you want to truly appreciate the device as being Android powered, rather than just another mobile phone.

A very reasonably priced handset and available now, the Pulse is a great idea and the perfect phone for those of you wanting to see what all the Android related fuss is about.
