samsung-i7500-angleCome June, Samsung will be unleashing the Samsung I7500 on the mobile phone market. It comes equipped with a 3.2-inch capacitive touch screen and is only 11.9 mm thick. The I7500 has a 5-Megapixel camera and allows up to 40GB of storage. Its rumoured launch price is £260. However, what makes this Smartphone so unique is that it is one of the first mobiles to make use of Google’s Android v1.5 OS. Let’s take a look at this new operating system and compare it to the other more established mobile operating systems in order to answer a very important question: will the Android OS give the Samsung I7500 a competitive advantage?

The Android Advantage
i7500Released October of last year, the T-Mobile G1 was the first Android-powered mobile in the world. Some critics believed that this mobile revolutionized the mobile OS arena. And now, with the newest version installed on the Samsung I7500 it looks as though this Smartphone has the potential to make more waves.

One of the biggest advantages of the Android OS is that its open source. This means developers are free to tweak the OS to be able to come up with the best version for their mobiles. Moreover, the Android will integrate Google apps and services on the I7500 such as Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, and much more.

Apple iPhone OS
Aside from the Symbian OS, the Apple iPhone’s OS is perhaps the most relevant player in the mobile operating system arena. A big factor to consider is that it’s already tried and tested—iPhone users and critics alike have sung their praises on more than one occasion. The iPhone OS boasts a multitude of features and functions that has made this mobile as successful as it is today.

At the end of the day, both operating systems have their own benefits and disadvantages. Perhaps it’s a matter of looking for the one that fits your needs best. You decide.
