It has been a long wait for Nokia’s answer to the Apple iPhone. We have waited around a year since we first had a glimpse at the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (formally known as the Nokia 5800 Tube). I’m am glad to say that the first batch are being shipped to a number of stores as we speak. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will first be available in selected markets around the world including Finland, India, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Spain and Russia. However the UK market will have to wait until year 2009 before we can purchase this phone.

The Nokia 5800 boasts impressive multimedia functionality. This includes around 35 hour music playback, 8GB micro SD card which holds up to 6,000 tracks in addition to a 3.2 mega pixel camera, GPS, 3G connectivity, HSDPA and Wi-Fi.
I am still not yet decide on whether the Nokia 5800 touch screen will make an impact on the market as the Apple iPhone did, only time will tell. There is big competition from rival manufacturers who have touch screen smatphones already on the market, this includes LG KC910 Renoir, Blackberry Storm 9500, Samsung Pixon M8800, Samsung i900 Omnia, HTC Touch HD to name a few. One big advantage of the Nokia 5800 is it will have an edition equipped with Nokia’s Comes With Music, which will be available in early 2009.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is launched on the 1st of December for a cost of around 279 Euros (£234) before taxes and subsidies, prior to Nokia World which is taking place in Barcelona on the 2nd and 3rd of December in Barcelona, Spain.
