When Samsung is not busy with the success of its Bada operating system, the Korea based phone maker is tweaking out more things for their Galaxy Android lineup of devices. This week, they confirmed the official launch date for the Android 2.2 Froyo update on the i9000 Galaxy S and also, the UK price tag of a SIM free Galaxy Tab P1000.

Of course, the price costs for the Galaxy Tab has been outed by various network operators already. What was newly confirmed is the SIM free cost of the touch screen tablet. According to sources, the new price tag is a solid 799 Pounds –far more costly than what many expected. After all, the Apple iPad was about 699 Pounds SIM free. And many already thought that the Tab would be even cheaper.

In other Samsung news, it seems that the Galaxy S is finally receiving the much anticipated update to Android 2.2 Froyo. This is going to be a major leap from the previous 2.1 Éclair version. Not only does the Froyo bring in new features and provide added stability, it also boosts the overall performance of the handset. Google stated that the Froyo has improved kernel memory management as well as better java handling when browsing online.

Anyway, the big launch date to watch out for would be later this September 23 when it is expected that the update would be online and ready for download by users. Of course, the software is only compatible for the Galaxy S, no word yet if other Samsung Androids (including the Galaxy Tab) will be getting an update on that day.

The Galaxy S packs a 1GHz CPU, a 5 mega pixel camera, a 4 inch super AMOLED touch screen display and of course all of Google’s Android goodies such as Google Goggles, Google Earth, Google Maps and Street View and more.
