The HTC Wildfire has got to be one of our most recommended smart phones. Sure, people would call it as an HTC Desire Mini. After all, the handset’s specs are indeed lower than that of the original Desire. But when it comes to overall basic functionality, the Wildfire does not lose out.

In fact, the handset even offers a few extra social networking features exclusive to the device itself. But what sets this smart phone apart is the price. The Desire is aimed towards a niche crowd of high end users. For most people, the Wildfire is a significantly better fit. Anyway, it has just been announced by HTC and Google that the 2.2 Froyo is finally heading to the Wildfire. The release date of the Wildfire’s update is the same time as the update for the HTC Desire.

The Wildfire, as stated above, is not a spec-impressive as the HTC Desire. It only has an MSM7225 Qualcomm CPU clocked at 528 MHz. This is not as fast as the Desire’s 1GHz CPU, but it certainly provides the handset with enough speed and processing power to take on heavy tasks –just expect to get some slowdowns when running multiple apps. At least the Wildfire’s 5 mega pixel camera is on par with the snapper on the Desire, though video recording on the Wildfire is still a notch lower.

One big feature that users should be aware about when it comes to the HTC Desire is that the phone comes with full integration for social networking –specifically Facebook. Android smart phone users who often rely on live updates and other features will like the new integrated social networking features on the Wildfire.

For those unfamiliar with the 2.2 Froyo, this new update promises to increase the speed and performance of the Android OS as well as provide new features and support for new content such as Flash.
