The mobile phone network provider 3 has been busy. Not content with one announcement (Twitter), 3 Mobile has quickly followed this with a second announcement (HTC Desire).

Yes, if you’re a fan of Twitter and of the HTC Desire, 3 has some excellent news – free Twitter forever and the HTC device is launching on 3.

Whether you’ve got a BlackBerry 9000 Bold on contract or a HTC Hero on Pay As You Go, you can tweet merrily on your mobile phone, for free. And this includes through Twitter apps as well as straight through your mobile browser.

All the time you spend on Twitter from your handset will not be included in your data usage allowance or taken from your current credit if you’re PAYG. So you can tweet, re-tweet and post pictures as much as you like if you are a 3 Mobile customer.

3 Mobile has also revealed that the HTC Desire will be launching on this network. The network provider has said it will release a non-branded version on 20 April. Most of 3’s mobile phones come with the network’s logo and software pre-installed but due to “unprecedented interest in the mobile”, a non-branded version will be available.

This means you will have a wide choice of networks for this smartphone – Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone are also offering the HTC Desire.

The HTC Desire has a 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon. Unlike the Google Nexus One, which is a pretty similar device, the Desire has the HTC Sense UI.
