For those who may have thought that the recent news about T-Mobile offering the HTC Desire earlier than expected may have been wrong, the UK based mobile network operator has clarified that they are indeed offering the device to their customers.

Some excited Android fans scooted over to T-Mobile’s official website to order the smart phone. With the Desire’s original launch set for much later in April, the early offer from T-Mobile was just too good to pass up. Unfortunately, the online store page for the Android phone was having some problems and prevented people from ordering –leading some to wonder if the news was wrong and that T-Mobile had mistakenly put up the selling page for a product that was not yet supposed to launch.

It turns out that the Desire is indeed available and that the online error has been fixed to allow people to place their orders for the mobile phone. The product will be shipped in 7 days upon ordering.

Aside from the HTC Desire, T-Mobile is also offering the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 to its customers. The wait is a little longer with 10 days for shipping.

The HTC Desire is considered by many as the best alternative to the Nexus One. Since the Google phone is only available online, the Desire is a much better choice since it shares the same specifications. The phone uses a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording and a 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touch screen.  HTC has added the Sense user interface on the phone as well.

The XPERIA X10 on the other hand, comes with a 4 inch capacitive touch screen, an 8 mega pixel camera and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
