I am still not convinced that the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pureness should be considered a mobile phone. Sony Ericsson is officially claiming the device as a work of art instead of a mobile phone. Well, as long as they provide hardware support for this work of art and keep the price at standard GSM price ranges, then I am fine with whatever label the call. There is not much to be said about this GSM device and its transparent screen, though it definitely shows some impressive stylishness in terms of design and make. Judging from the recent images of the device, there is definitely some novelty in the concept of having a transparent screen.
I am no longer interested in GSM devices, you can only do so much with them and without 3G HSDPA for connectivity it gets pretty hard to stay online. I know there are still plenty of people out there who are using GSM devices; there are entire nations out there that still have not moved up to 3G technologies. By creating concept designs such as the Pureness, Sony Ericsson is adding life to a technology where no further advancements can be made. It’s a great choice, after all, when you cannot improve any further on the inside, it is time to address the outside.
You might think that it is unwise to spend money researching the technology for the Pureness since it is actually a technological dead end. A purely transparent monochromatic display screen will not open up doors for colored hologram displays, but the existence of the Pureness is not meant for scientific merit. It is here, because it actually looks good, and it does have a calming appearance thanks to the see through screen. Expect this device to amaze you with its aesthetic charm at the end of November.
