Nokia 2730 Classic

Nokia 2730 ClassicFinnish mobile phone market leader Nokia has just released a new budget phone in its Classic product portfolio – the Nokia 2730 Classic.  Sporting a stylishly elegant slim candy-bar form that characterize the Classic line of Nokia mobile phones, the new entry phone features an upgraded data connectivity to make it conveniently useful to the trendy young crowd known to take online activities seriously.

It has 3G with HSPA data connectivity for a truly fast and no-wait surfing and downloading over the net.  Like the 2720 preceding it, the new 2730 has the same Nokia Life Tools like Ovi mail that makes emailing a breeze.

Nokia has it preloaded with a set of Ovi applications that are sure to appeal to the busy young crowd looking for great functional value on a budget handset.  It addition, it has support for Nokia maps and Windows Live Messenger.

Advance Features

A sleek fashion phone with many of the popular features we expect from a versatile mobile phone of the 21st century are right here on Nokia’s budget entry level handset.  Apart from 3G/HSPA on a twin band UMTS and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGR phone, it has a decent 2.0 megapixel for simple imaging needs that also support video recording, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support for wireless stereo earphone use, a stereo FM radio with RDS, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5 mm headphone jack.

All the hardware features get housed in a petite and slim 109.6 x 46.9 x 14.4mm body that weighs a mere 87.7 grams to make it extremely pocketable and a delight to behold on your hands.

Nokia did pull back on some features to deliver the product to wider market.  There’s no secondary video lens even if it can support 3G video calls. There’s a smallish 2” QVGA TFT LCD screen with 256k colors.  While internal memory is a very modest 30MB, you still get microSD support for up to 2GB.  The package itself comes with a 1GB TransFlash microSD.  But it’s a credit to Nokia that you could squeeze in 1000 content entries in its phonebook – something even busy executives might take a lifetime to fill up.

The Nokia 2730 Classic boasts of a long battery life which is its main appeal to the working masses, giving a significant edge among mobile phones in the same price bracket.  Its standard BL-5C lithium-ion battery delivers 7 hours of talk time on 2G, 3.3 hours on 3G and 17 hours of standby time on 2G which is quite generous for a compact handset that often has slim batteries with diminished charging capability.  You also get 12 hours of continuous music playback on a single charge.

Availability

Nokia had earlier announced this model back in May this year and is confirming its release last 12th of October.  SIM-free retail price is at a very wallet-friendly £79.99.  Expect the mobile phone carriers to have this free with even a 12-month contact.  This makes the Nokia 2730 the cheapest 3G phone in the market to date.
