Interesting names have a knack for getting bad puns, and that is exactly the kind of name that the Access and Emblaze Mobile have given their new phone.
Reactions about the First ELSE smart phone are mixed, and this is not about the name. It’s a curious thing to see another totally new operating system being unleashed on the market (after the Bada and the Ubuntu); the ELSE INTUITION interface sports a stylishly savvy looking one-thumb navigation setup (it looks quite intuitive too) that looks like it just might click with anyone curious enough to try this phone.
The hardware specs are impressive, boasting 32GB of internal memory, a 3.5 inch capacitive touch screen with 480 x 854 pixels of resolution, and a nice fast TI OMAP 3430 processor. It’s a 3G smart phone so expect the usual WiFi, Bluetooth, HSDPA, Micros USB, and GPS combo. If you think we missed the micro SD card slot, it is not yet confirmed.
News of the ELSE comes with a quick spot about the Google Phone as well.
Seems like another rumor about the upcoming Google phone has made it to public notice and this time; it is about the device using the Android Flan if and when it finally gets out. This comes as to no surprise –it would be odd if they did not use the latest version of their own OS.
But this does remind people that Google has been rather avoidant in giving out details of their newer OS to manufacturers (for a while, only Motorola has access to the 2.0 Éclair –which is why they are the only company to have a 2.0 device this holiday season). The source code for the Android 2.0 OS has only been recently released to manufacturers; Google has not given a statement why Motorola was the only company they supported.
